“Comment threading provides a more focused reading experience and helps users easily understand conversations. Click on the ‘X replies’ button under a comment and view threaded replies in the ‘Replies’ panel. Only available on iOS and Android.”
The comment threads make it easy to follow the conversation by visually connecting replies within the single comment stream. It is similar to how Reddit’s comment section works. The audience can tap on the “ X “replies button to see the full threaded conversation in a dedicated replies panel. So it’s a simplified discussion tracking display, which could help to spark more specific discussions in the comment panels.
This testing feature is currently rolling out to a wider user base of premium subscribers on IOS and Android. This Beta testing is set to stay till 14 August 2025. An earlier draft of YouTube’s comment section redesign that attempted to introduce threading was called out for not fully implementing the feature. The current stage of this seems to be a more complete and visually clear threading system.
